House Hunting with Feng Shui - Part 4
House Hunting with Feng Shui
Get an internal floor plan drawn by the architect if possible, because it has exact dimensions, and it is drawn to scale. If you cannot get that, then draw your own floor plan. However, try to get accurate proportions and dimensions.
Check the compass direction, and then work out the orientation of the house.
The main door should be located at one of the fortunate location such as sheng chi, tien yi, nien yen or fu wei. Make sure the main door, pathway, bedroom door, bedroom, study room and dining room are located at the fortunate locations. However, beware of the annual afflictions. Toilet, bathroom, wash area, kitchen, stove, and storeroom should occupy harmful sections.
Watch out for common design afflictions. Knowing these basic feng shui principles will save you thousands of dollars and frustration in correcting your house.
Common Design Afflictions
- Do not have the kitchen & dining room located near the main door, especially in an apartment. Do not have the living room located at the back of the house.
- Do not have the main door built under the toilet or bathroom of the upper floor in a double storey house.
From many years of my feng shui practices, there are many common feng shui afflicted designed houses. Some houses are designed in this way due to cost-saving, while others are just designed by architects, who are not aware of feng shui principles.
